Book Cover: NEGATIVE GIRLMartin and Valerie don’t have the typical boss-employee relationship—unless it’s normal to rescue your manager from a drunken stupor in the middle of the night, only to discuss pending work items over breakfast the next morning at the local diner.

Between this troubled private investigator and his assistant, nothing clouds the air in their office more than secrets. NEGATIVE GIRL is a riveting story told from alternating perspectives of Martin and Valerie. It incites a hunger to soak up as much information about their personalities (and messy pasts) as possible.

Libby Cudmore writes spectacularly to pull readers into the nook of Martin and Valerie’s sacred bond. Her turns of phrase make everything unfold with a built-in life lesson or philosophy, usually delivered with a creative analogy that anyone who existed in the 90s will be sure to appreciate.

When Martin tries to dodge the details surrounding a former client’s death, Valerie swoops in with her detective skills to uncover the truth. However, it quickly becomes obvious that they’re more likely to succeed if they partner together.
The starting point? Examining the dual lives led by the client.

Even though this mission leads the duo to rake sleazy streets for clues and witnesses, the author has a cunning way of ensnaring the reader with empathy. The extra touch of musical references dripping throughout the book adds another dimension to Cudmore’s settings, tempting her audience to come uncomfortably close to the burdened characters.

Suspense rises with each page until the shocking end.

NEGATIVE GIRL shamelessly lures its audience into savoring every bit of dysfunction and bad behavior the author serves like delicious cocktails at a forbidden party.
