TG Wolff recently spent some time with The Big Thrill discussing her latest thriller, PYSCHO THERAPY.

Can you pinpoint a moment or incident that sparked the idea for this book?
From the beginning, this was going to be a 3 part story, following Diamond’s movement through the stages of grief over the death of her husband. Acceptance was the hardest to write.

A novel is such a major undertaking; there’s the writing of it, of course, then you’re spending months and months revising, polishing, and then promoting it. How did you know this was the book you wanted to spend the next couple of years on?
I love being in this world. They characters constantly jockey for space on the page. Whether writing or editing, it’s never boring.

When you first created your protagonist for this book, did you see an empty space in crime lit that you wanted to fill? What can you share about the inspiration for that character?
I wanted to do a take on the classic PI, one that has nothing to lose. I knew she was female and had a science background. In taking away the thing she loved most (i.e. her husband), I inadvertently made a character I had to work like hell to keep alive.

In addition to a great read, what do you hope readers will take away from this story?
This story is 90% about the joy of reading. If there is something to be taken away, I think it is that when you feel like you are absolutely alone, take a hard look around. None of us are islands.

What can you share about what you’re working on next?
I am currently writing the 4th installment of the De La Cruz Casefile series, working title is Playing Dead. After, I have several stand alone mysteries I want to focus on completing. I am also working on a podcast with my son, Jack, called Mysteries to Die For, where we challenge listeners (and readers) to beat the detective to the solution.
