Latest Books The Right Road by Yvonne Rediger
Adam Norcross has recently returned from a foreign assignment. Bent on settling his mother’s estate, Norcross is interrupted by his boss for a new task. Find RCMP Sergeant Bethany Leith. He also wants to know how her career has gone so wrong she is suspended.
When Adam tracks Beth to her parent’s farm in Saskatchewan they are drawn into a suspicious death investigation on her family’s land. Norcross knows it’s murder. The victim is someone Nick Leith, Beth’s father, has a troubled history with. What about the archaeologist team digging on the same property, are they involved?
Norcross will use every tool at his disposal to solve the murder and help Bethany Leith. Including navigating his way through the political intrigue surrounding the case against her.
Digging up the past can be murder.
Yvonne Rediger recently spent some time with The Big Thrill discussing her latest thriller, THE RIGHT ROAD.
Can you pinpoint a moment or incident that sparked the idea for this book?
I am a huge fan of Time Team, and when driving through the rolling countryside where we live, I thought what if some of these mounds held artefacts?
A novel is such a major undertaking; there’s the writing of it, of course, then you’re spending months and months revising, polishing, and then promoting it. How did you know this was the book you wanted to spend the next couple of years on?
This is the second Adam Norcross mystery, I wanted to include more of Sergeant Beth Leith’s story. As in the first novel, Leith and Norcross work together as partners, yet there is a little chemistry between them. More to come in the next installment.
When you first created your protagonist for this book, did you see an empty space in crime lit that you wanted to fill? What can you share about the inspiration for that character?
I wanted to write a male / female investigation story where the two start out as opposites, but unite to become a formidable team. I think I am on my way with this second novel, however there is more to resolve. And as my daughter says, “What about Perkins?”
In addition to a great read, what do you hope readers will take away from this story?
I hope this story sparks a curiosity about human origins through archaeology. Science is what we know this week. It evolves as we learn more, that is the exciting bit.
What can you share about what you’re working on next?
The next Musgrave Landing mystery is outlined, and is my next project. Closely followed by book 3 for Norcross and Leith, in the nation’s capital.
