Lyla Fox knows she has a reputation at the SNAP Agency for impulsivity, but when she receives a threatening letter from a man she helped put in prison, she can’t stop herself from going all in to find out why he’s coming after her. Unfortunately, she’s going to need the help of the one person who questions her reckless choices more than anyone else.

Explosives and weapons specialist Nicolás Garcia agrees to help Lyla in order to keep her safe, but her recklessness continues to be a major concern, especially when her investigation into a conspiracy puts a target on her back. Dealing with bombs is dangerous. Working with Lyla is proving to be just as treacherous—to both the mission and his heart.

Natalie Walters closes out her SNAP Agency series with a bang with this nail-biting story of a deadly government conspiracy, an unlikely couple, and an ending that will leave you breathless.

Natalie Walters recently spent some time with TheBigThrill discussing her latest thriller, BLIND TRUST.

Was there anything new you discovered, or surprised you, as you wrote this book?

When I began researching illegal arms deals I was surprised by how prevalent this is across the globe and sometimes sanctioned by countries to assist in national and global security. It seemed like every bit of research I uncovered led me to real life cases and individuals that inspired elements of my own story making it feel a lot more like non-fiction than fiction.

Which took shape first: plot, character, or setting?

Interestingly enough, I ended up writing a prequel novella for my SNAP Agency series as a way to introduce the agency and the team. When I began writing that story a subplot started to emerge that I wasn’t expecting and has now come full circle in this final book for the series. So, I guess the answer is that the plot took shape first but then I’d have to say that for Blind Trust, it’s a combination of plot and character. This particular plot wouldn’t have worked without developing the personalities of Lyla and Garcia and then deepening their character through each previous book to get them to this point.

What was the biggest challenge this book presented? What about the biggest opportunity?

The biggest challenge on this book was meeting the expectation of readers who have been following Lyla and Garcia throughout the series. In previous books they’ve seen the subtle and maybe not so subtle hints that feelings exist between these two very stubborn and guarded characters. So, to write their stories knowing I have to get it right for my readers added another level of pressure I wasn’t prepared for. When I turned in my manuscript to the editor it had an ending that didn’t quite feel right and I ended up telling my editor that I needed to rewrite it and I’m glad that I did because nobody deserved a better happily-ever-after than Lyla and Garcia!
