The Big Thrill spent some time with author Lauri Broadbent discussing her debut thriller, IMAGES:
What attracts you to this book’s genre?
I think like most readers of thrillers, mysteries, and suspense I love trying to figure what’s going to happen next and am delighted when I didn’t see it coming.
Was there anything new you discovered, or that surprised you, as you wrote this book?
I came up with the concept for this book years ago. Having shared my idea with my family, my mother sent me a newspaper article that supported my concept. What I had thought was extremely far fetched at the time was actually not at all.
(The article my mother sent is printed in the beginning of the book.)
What authors or books have influenced your career as a writer, and why?
When I was young I didn’t like to read. My mother got me interested in reading romance novels. It was then that I decided I wanted to write a book. I started reading Sidney Sheldon. I then added Stephen King and through the suggestion of a friend, Mary Higgins Clark. I was hooked. Currently, I’m enjoying Ruth Ware, Lisa Jackson, and Tess Gerritsen.
