The Big Thrill Recommends THE BACHELORETTE PARTY by Sandra Block

Recommended by Susana Kuehne

For friends who find discussing murders satisfying as the latest rom com or new yoga class, THE BACHELORETTE PARTY is an explosive and entertaining book to add to your text threads.

Sandra Block begins the well-crafted story with a Crossroads-like opening scene, complete with a creepy snowstorm and gas station stop to set the perfect backdrop. Alex Conley, bride-to-be, has agreed to celebrate her upcoming wedding with best friends Melody (the actress) and Lainey (the basketball star). The only thing putting a damper on the weekend’s festivities is Alex’s work assignment.

It’s the tenth anniversary of the year a serial killer slayed multiple women, leaving behind the number of the beast as their most prominent clue: 666. Supposedly, he’s been caught and serving his time in jail. Yet, the Internet is buzzing with conversation about other potential suspects and a crooked police investigation. Alex’s feature must be good enough to air another episode on Crimeline, but can she do better than the original detectives and unearth something everyone else missed?

In the span of over 300 pages filled with intensive eeriness and nail-biting danger, Block’s audience will no doubt be clutching blankets, triple checking the latches on their doors, and ensuring someone else is awake as they cruise through the tantalizing mystery.

Everyone’s a suspect, in a non-cliché way, so all details matter. If the reader can remember them.

THE BACHELORETTE PARTY screams ‘20/20’ vibes. It will torment readers with curiosity as the author takes them to every place imaginable, tempting true crime enthusiasts to rewind and pause the narrative, daring them to solve the case themselves before they reach the final page.
