PASSIONS IN DEATH is the fifty-ninth book in J.D. Robb’s futuristic, police procedural In Death series. For new readers feeling overwhelmed with the number of books, jump in at any point knowing each title in the series stands alone, featuring a different murder case investigation. However, hard-core Eve Dallas fans will encourage you to start with book one and proceed through the series in order of publication to get to know her characters from the start.
Erin Albright and Shauna Hunnicut and their tribe of close friends let it all hang loose while drinking, singing, and dancing the night away in celebration of their upcoming nuptials at the Down & Dirty Club. With the party in full swing, Erin slips into a back room to prepare for a special surprise for her bride-to-be, and that’s where Lt. Eve Dallas of the NYPD finds her lying in a pool of her own blood. Evidence points towards a premeditated murder by someone close to the victim. Everyone seems to love Erin, so who has reason to want her dead?
PASSIONS IN DEATH is a perfect example of the inventive, masterly plotted, strong character- driven stories fans have come to expect and receive from Robb. Readers can count on her skillful maneuvering of Eve and Company through each multilayered case to be highly entertaining. As always, residing in Eve’s mind when she’s peeling back layers, sifting through clues, homing in on a murderer, and striding into the interrogation room to deliver justice is a fascinating place to be.
Robb explores the intricacies of relationships, especially within found family and a tribe of friends, in PASSIONS IN DEATH—a compelling, highly addictive suspense thriller with a loving side of romance via Eve’s own mysterious, wealthy husband, Roarke. Fans of intriguing mysteries and police procedurals will enjoy this one.
