Book Cover: ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILYThe Bishop sisters arrive at their last family reunion, and it will be deadly—at least for some. In Jamie Day’s newest thriller, ONE BIG HAPPY FAMILY, long-ago secrets and perpetual greed rule.

Not only does 19-year-old chambermaid Charley Kelley’s life depend on her job at the imposing Precipice Hotel—perched on a seaside cliff in Maine—but her Nana’s life depends on it, too. Charley must pay the fee at her grandmother’s retirement center. The Bishop family hasn’t yet caught her stealing valuables from guestrooms, and now she’s hiding a battered woman named Bree. One misstep, and they’ll fire Charley. Or worse.

George Bishop—the family’s patriarch and owner of the Precipice—is dead, and his children gather to read his will. Neurotic control freak Vicki owns a thriving jewelry business. In her prime, Faith was a fashion cover girl. Iris is the black sheep—now two years sober after addiction and prison. Each harbors secrets to die for and hidden shame, and each brings her own agenda.

The most dangerous hurricane in years is about to strike, so the hotel is empty. But a silly storm won’t deter them—each must discover what they get from their father, come hell or floodwaters. But how George divides the estate shocks all but one. Tempers ignite as they learn who gets what—and who doesn’t. Then one of them is murdered. Who is the killer, and who will be next?

Day has contrived a creepy locked-room thriller that lays bare the intricately woven fabric of family trauma, the repercussions from guilt, and the consequences from decades-old deadly choices. This fast-moving tale takes readers into the lives of those privileged few and those not and serves as a cautionary story of how one impulsive decision can alter lives forever. I also loved Day’s last novel, The Block Party, and can’t wait for the next one (hurry up Day)!
