The Big Thrill Discusses A MIXED BAG OF CAT TAILS with Debbie De Louise
A talking cat helps a woman solve a rich man’s murder, so she can inherit his fortune.
A ghost cat rescues a bride from a demon.
Sweethearts reunite thanks to a cat they save.
A man traveling with his family finds a can on the beach and lets loose a cat genie.
A recently divorced woman moves to San Francisco and ends up time traveling to the time of the Great Earthquake – along with a cat.
These stories and five others make up A Mixed Bag of Cat Tails, a collection of mystery, romance, horror, fantasy, and science fiction tales sure to delight cat lovers and those who enjoy reading about cats.
Award-winning author, Debbie De Louise recently sat down with The Big Thrill to discuss her short story collection, A MIXED BAG OF CAT TAILS.
When you first created your protagonist for this book, did you see an empty space in crime lit that you wanted to fill? What can you share about the inspiration for that character?
There are ten different stories in this collection and ten different protagonists. Because I realized that most crime fiction collections focus on mysteries, I thought it would be unique to publish a collection containing different genres that also include surprises and twists.
Can you pinpoint a moment or incident that sparked the idea for this book?
I’d published many stories in anthologies and as eBooks, but I decided that I would love to see them altogether in a print collection.
In addition to a great read, what do you hope readers will take away from this story?
I hope that readers will enjoy sampling different genres that they ordinarily wouldn’t consider.
What can you share about what you’re working on next?
I’m working on the fifth Buttercup Bend cozy mystery, tentatively titled, The Case of the Reptile Rescuing Receptionist.
