Two ex-wives. Two missing daughters.

The discovery that her outwardly perfect new husband has two stepdaughters on the FBI’s list of missing children sends a mother down a rabbit hole to protect her child.

Jenna Kernan recently spent some time with The Big Thrill discussing her latest thriller, THE EX-WIVES:

Which took shape first: plot, character, or setting?

The hook came to me first—a young mother meets the perfect man and after marrying discovers both his stepdaughters are missing.

What attracts you to this book’s genre?

I love the illusion of what appears to be, masking what secrets lurk below the surface.

What was the biggest challenge this book presented? What about the biggest opportunity?

This book has past and forward-moving stories that collide midway through. Juggling two timelines challenged in this one.

Was there anything new you discovered or that surprised you as you wrote this book?

I was surprised and horrified at how easy it now is for an abusive partner to track a person’s every move.

No spoilers, but what can you tell us about your book that we won’t find in the jacket copy or the PR material?

Appearances are deceiving.
