Moving Target by Lynette Eason
When Maddy McKay and Quinn Holcombe don’t show up for Quinn’s surprise birthday party, his friends know that something is very wrong. Their search turns up little beyond evidence that Quinn and Maddy just decided to take off for a long overdue vacation. But it soon becomes apparent that they did not leave of their own accord.
Maddy awakens in a cement room with no idea where she is. But it’s not long before she realizes she’s in the clutches of a madman exacting revenge by hunting. His prey of choice? Humans. Now Maddy and Quinn must run for their lives, hoping to find their killer before the next game begins. Because if they don’t win this game, they die.
Author Lynette Eason took time to discuss her latest thriller with The Big Thrill:
What do you hope readers will take away from this book?
First, I hope readers are thoroughly entertained by the story. I hope they also realize that true love is worth pursuing and not giving up on. I hope they come away better people for having read the book.
How does this book make a contribution to the genre?
I think the book is just a rocking good story full of love and suspense. The characters grow and change into better people and come to realize that life is too short not to love to the utmost.
Was there anything new you discovered, or surprised you, as you wrote this book?
Video gaming is an intense “sport”. I’m amazed how many people take it so seriously. It’s also troubling that it can be a real addiction for others.
No spoilers, but what can you tell us about your book that we won’t find in the jacket copy or the PR material?
This book was inspired by my admiration for the men and women in law enforcement who put their lives on the line every day. In this story, I wanted to show my love for justice and the bad guys getting it in the end. Because sometimes it is just black and white with no grey areas. Right is right and wrong is wrong. At least in this story.
What authors or books have influenced your career as a writer, and why?
I love authors Lee Child, Lisa Garner, Kathy Reichs, Terri Blackstock, Dee Henderson, James Patterson (Michael Bennett series), and others. There have been so many wonderful books that have allowed me to step into the pages and be swept away. I’ve been a pirate on the high seas, a detective determined to solve the thirty-year-old cold case, and a woman who falls in love with her hot hero. The desire to inspire and touch readers in similar ways propelled me into my writing career.
