Heaven Sent by Ann Simas
Sophie Doyle is not having a good day. She’s without a car, because hers was stolen. She’s without a washer and dryer, because hers tanked on the same day. She’s overslept because of a power outtage and when she finally arrives late for work, she’s told her employment is terminated due to budget constraints. Could things get any worse?
Never ask, “What next?”
Hit in the crosswalk by red-light runner, Sophie finds herself dead on the sidewalk, observing a good Samaritan trying to resuscitate her. Suddenly, she thrust into a tunnel of incredibly bright light, where she meets…God? Sophie likes it in Heaven where it’s nice and warm and welcoming, but she’s told she can’t stay. Her assignment? Return to the earthly plane to save a man by saving his daughter Bella.
The next thing Sophie knows, she’s watching resuscitation efforts on her poor dead body again when she’s rushed to surgery for treatment of a subdural hematoma. This time, she finds her ethereal self flying through walls to the ER when she’s summoned by a child’s voice calling, “Sophie, help me, please! She’s trying to take me to the Dark Place and I don’t want to go.”
Death after life after death. . .
Sophie hasn’t been conscious long enough to consider the ramifications of her assignment, but meeting Bella on the other side…well, that seals the deal for her. She formulates a plan to save the child.
The only question is, will she make it back from the Dark Place once she implements it?

Ann Simas lives in Oregon, but she is a Colorado girl at heart, having grown up in the Rocky Mountains. She has been an avid reader since childhood and penned her first fiction “book” in high school. She particularly likes to write mystery-thriller-suspense with a love story and paranormal or supernatural elements.
She has written three novels that were Romance Writers of America Golden Heart Finalists: Chloe’s Spirit, First Star, and Blessed Are the Eagles. Magic Moon Press publishes Ann’s books, all of which are available as ebooks through Amazon or iTunes Bookstore. Paperbacks are available with free shipping when ordered directly from the author’s website and at Amazon with Prime. They are also available in the Amazon CreateSpace Store.
Ann served on the Romance Writers of America Board of Directors for two years and co-founded the Heart of Oregon Chapter RWA, where she served as President, Conference Chair, and Public Relations Chair. She has edited eight professional-organization newsletters (receiving Best-of Awards for two of them) and written articles for numerous magazines and newspapers. She also was Publications Director at a nonprofit research institute at the University of Oregon.
An award-winning watercolorist and a budding photographer, Ann enjoys needlework and gardening in her spare time. She is her family’s “genealogist” and has been blessed with the opportunity to conduct first-hand research in Italy for both her writing and her family tree. The genealogy research from decade’s old documents in Italian, she says, has been a supreme but gratifying challenge.
