This month sees publication of Romantic Suspense author Debra Webb’s forty-sixth novel in her highly successful Colby Agency series.

Colby Agency investigator Levi Stark had been prepared for the worst when his boss sent him to find her agency’s deadliest enemy. But deep undercover in a Mexican mining outpost, Levi met danger from the unlikeliest source—an unknown blonde spitfire on the same trail.

Casey Manning had been secretly sent by Levi’s boss’s husband. The benched CIA agent trusted no one and worked alone…until she and Levi found themselves outmanned and outgunned. Around her sexy new partner, Casey had a feeling that protecting her identity—and her heart—would prove tougher than keeping them safe from the Colbys’ most wanted.…

Debra wrote her first story at nine, and her first romance at thirteen. It was not until 1996, having pursued a different career path, travelled with her husband and children as he pursued his career in the military, and finally having come full circle and returned home to Alabama, that Debra finally picked up a pen to pursue her dream of becoming a published author.

The idea for the Colby Agency series began with a daily commute to work, in Debra’s own words, on a cold winter day. I had this character ranting at me to let her loose. She’d been hanging around in my head for a while. This character was to prove significant in the development of the series. Her name was Victoria Colby and her husband’s legacy was the Colby Agency. In January of 1998 Debra started to write her story. Though Jack Raine and Katherine Robertson were the hero and heroine of the book that was eventually entitled SAFE BY HIS SIDE, Victoria Colby was the star.

So Debra began the series which was to prove to be Harlequin’s largest original author series. In its ten and a half year run, 45 novels have been released. Classified is next, and number forty-seven will be available in November. Next summer will see a landmark 50th novel released. A remarkable achievement. Despite the longevity of the series the stories remain fresh and exciting, adventurous, with a seasoning of romance.
